Welcome to the Carpenters Arms Coed Y paen, you should find all you need to know about us on this website.

We re-opened on the 5th of March 2004. The pub had been closed for seven months after the departure of the previous licensee, and there was standing room only on the opening night. The landlord Matt Hiscox (previously at The White Hart, Llangibby) has maintained the traditional character of this country pub. It is only small, but has a glorious location and a large welcome.

The pub itself is some two hundred years old and was one of the first buildings in Coed Y Paen village. The restaurant area was once used as a blacksmith's shop, and its said the building is haunted by his daughter.

The girls often moan about super-natural presences. I’m convinced this some kind of ploy to avoid certain jobs that they don’t like... though of couse this is fiercely denied at all times!

Thanks to support from old and new customers the business has been a great success, and we are now looking at ways of widening our appeal.
