The Carpenters Arms Wine List

Whites
Borgese Bianco 2005 DOC Castelli Romani Cantine di Campoverde
Surprisingly good for its price. A crisp dry white blend of Malvasia and Trebbiano grapes, with a citrus aftertaste. £8.95
Cuvee de L’Abbaye Demi-sec Vin de Pays du Gers Les Producteurs Plaimont
This is definitely more demi then sec, with a delightfully floral, lively taste. Good to drink on its own. £8.95
Sauvignon 2004 Domaine Ribaute Vin de Pays d’Oc
A fine well balanced Sauvignon with hints of gooseberry and greengage.
£9.95
Marsanne 2004 Domaine des Fontaines Vin de Pays d’Oc
A great success with Tom. It spends time in oak, giving an interesting and delicious extra dimension to the flavour. £11.95
Chardonnay 2004 Tyrell’s Old Winery
This wine has attractive melon and peach aromas, balanced by a subtle oak vanilla flavour with a clean, crisp and fresh finish. £12.45
Chablis 2004 Domaine Jean Marie Naulin
An outstanding Chablis, with excellent acidity and good fruit. £15.95
Rioja blanco reserva “Cappellina” 2001 Marques de Murrieta
The style of Marques de Murrieta’s white has changed: it is now softer with less aggressive oak, and lacks the slight oxidation it used to have. £19.95
Santenay 2003 Domain Claud Neuveau
Fat and rich yet still retaining a nice acidity, because M. Nouveau stopped the malolactic fermentation in this vintage. A well balanced slightly smoky tasting delicious mouthful of proper white burgundy. £21.95
Puligny-Montrachet 2003 Domain Paul Pernot
Serious producer, delicious, classic white burgundy, with a bit of extra weight in this vintage £34.95

Reds
Fontvignes Carbernet Sauvignon 2004
Real varietal character £8.95
Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC Colle Cavallieri 2005 Cantina Tollo
It is utterly delicious, with masses of fruit, but also real vinosity. An excellent partner for strongly flavoured dishes. £9.95
Hacienda Del Ray Carmenere
This excellent Chilean has an intense nose of blackberries and blueberries. Great complexity on the palate yet abundant fruit and forward tannins. Delicious with all roast meats, game and strong cheese. £11.95
Begerac AC Chateau de la Colline Rouge 2003
The wine is supple, with fresh juicy fruit. It is a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. £13.95
Sur 2003 DO Navarra Bodega Inurrieta
Made from Rioja varieties Garnacha, Tempranillo and Graciano. This wine comes from a new winery set up in its own vine yards £13.95

Another Spanish winner, but perhaps a smoother and mellower wine than the Inurrieta with slightly longer oak ageing. £14.95

A delicious, mellow, and mature Claret, with some bottle age from northen medoc. £25.85

Nuit St Georges “Aux Crots” 2003
Fine silky texture, combined with the sunny richness of this vintage
£34.95
